Description

Game in the GZM Metropolis Card game, board game. The set consists of 65 cards, of which 54 are numbered cards from 2 to Ace and two jokers. The remaining cards are informational cards with descriptions of games dedicated to the metropolis.

The set does not include pawns or dice, which are not necessary for gameplay.

Each card represents one of the 41 municipalities that make up the GZM metropolis. The card backs feature a plan of the metropolis' transportation network along with administrative boundaries. When put together as a puzzle, the backs form a map of the metropolis. The backs also feature QR codes, which, when scanned, link to 3D models of selected spaces and objects characteristic of specific cities and municipalities. These models can be explored in a browser or using augmented reality after installing the free AUGMENT app. The fronts of the cards feature graphics representing iconic places: Spodek (Katowice), the Planetarium (Chorzów), the Market Square (Gliwice, Bytom), Guido Mine (Zabrze), etc. The fronts also contain numerical data about the municipality: area, population, green space percentage, rank in the municipality ranking, and total length of cycling paths. On the edges of the cards, there are fields with points related to municipality data: number of transfer centers, train stations, monuments, sports facilities, and parks.

The game is designed for users of different ages, from 5 years old and up.

The deck of cards can be used for classic card games and dedicated games. Ten games are proposed, including: Puzzle, Memory, Indicator War, Metropolitan Solitaire, Metropolitan Race, New Metropolis, and others. Some of these games require pawns or any small objects to substitute them, as well as dice.

The game was created for educational purposes and to popularize knowledge about the GZM metropolis. It serves as an interactive tool for learning about it. The authors are students from the Faculty of Architecture and members of the Urbanmodel scientific club, under the guidance of Tomasz Bradecki.
